(Unpublished) #Poem: “Common”

I wrote this poem back in 2004. Usually, I like to introduce the poems in this series, but I think this one is self-explanatory.

We’re all common –
that we have in common –
but we’ve got common sense
and that’s common knowledge
to the common man,
but it’s all too common
to find common concerns
about what truly are our common values,
because finding common ground
on common matters
is not exactly a common occurrence.
