Free Screening of “First Lady of the Revolution,” November 5
If you’re in or near Montgomery, Alabama on Monday evening, the Juliette Hampton Morgan Library is having a free screening of First Lady of the Revolution on Monday, November 5 at 6:00 PM. The film is a documentary about Henrietta Boggs Macguire, an Alabama native who was once the First Lady of Costa Rica. The library’s screening will include a question-and-answer session with Dr. Vincent T. Gawronski of Birmingham-Southern College. The first public screening of the film in Montgomery, at the Capri Theatre, sold out quickly, and this event offers a second chance for those folks who missed the first one.
In addition to her distinction as the First Lady of a Central American country, Henrietta Boggs Macguire was an accomplished journalist and writer. As a member of Booker T. Washington Magnet High School’s FAME Board, she has also been a long-time supporter of the Creative Writing magnet, the program that I teach and coordinate.
