Last night, my Creative Writing students had their annual poetry reading at Kress on Dexter in downtown Montgomery. Twelve students read from original works and from works by a diverse selection of established poets, including Nikki Giovanni to Ogden Nash. This is an annual event for us — the sixteenth one for me — and it’s living proof that the hashtag is true: #poetryisnotdead.
