#throwbackthursday: A Gas Tax for Roads, 1979

It was on this day forty years ago today that the front page of the Montgomery Advertiser featured this short article about then-governor Fob James proposing . . . a gasoline tax to improve Alabama’s roads— which sounds eerily similar to a current proposal by our current governor. I think we might need some new ideas . . .
