Thank you to Pastor Rodney Rogers of Macedonia Baptist Church in Prattville and to Jeanne Charbonneau of the Maxwell-Gunter Spouses Club for hosting book talks about Closed Ranks over this long Presidents’ Day weekend. Stacy Whitehurst and I were the speakers at the church’s Black Heritage program on Sunday morning, and we talked with a group of military spouses from Maxwell Air Force Base and Gunter Air Station on Monday evening. Both discussions went well, and I always appreciate the opportunity the share the story of the Whitehurst Case with audiences who want to know more about this difficult episode in Montgomery’s history.
